Dr. Adriana Campa is currently Chair of the Department of Dietetics & Nutrition and tenured Associate Professor at Florida International University (FIU), where she is involved in numerous teaching and research activities, including being the Core Leader for Engagement at the FIU Research Center for Minority Institution (RCMI). Dr. Campa has been a Registered Dietitian for more than 30 years in Miami-Dade, and during those years she forged many strong connections in this community through her clinical, community and research activities.
Dr. Campa was for more than five years a Women, Infants and Children (WIC) dietitian at Jackson Memorial Hospital serving Overtown, at a time that pediatric HIV was still a prevalent problem in Miami. She has conducted research on HIV and Nutrition in Panama, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Mexico and Botswana, Africa, as well as the impoverished areas of Miami-Dade County. Dr. Campa has mentored more than 50 graduate student projects and published extensively with her students.
